Overview
Waymaker Group’s Chief of Staff, Revenue (CoS) will be responsible for supporting the Founder/CEO in every process that generates revenue for the organization. The CoS will be responsible for increasing revenue through the management of the sales pipeline, connecting marketing investments/performance to sales, fostering existing client/partner relationships, and overseeing service development/pricing. This position is responsible for improving sales processes and performance, and scaling Waymaker’s increasingly-visible national brand. This is a strategic, high impact role designed to drive company growth and deliver repeatable business.

Responsibilities

Increase WG’s client base by:
-
Fostering positive and mutually-beneficial relationships with current clients who are an important source of referrals and new business
-
Identifying prospects including WG target markets and the executive leaders/decision makers of TBED efforts in those markets
-

Prepare the founder/CEO for business development (BD) meetings by:
-
Securing introductory meetings with executive leaders/decision makers
-
Developing prospect briefings
-
Customizing the WG Capabilities deck per prospect
-
Developing meeting agendas
-
Developing meeting notes
-
Utilizing and improving WG’s business development methodology to determine decision making authority, service need, and consulting budget of each prospect

Convert business development prospects to contracted clients by:

Developing proposal outlines for prospect review and buy-in
-
Working with the WG Finance lead and the Director of Operations to price proposals
-
Transitioning outlines to comprehensive, fully-designed proposals/scopes of work for final presentation

Coordinating the socialization and adoption of proposals with board members, key stakeholders and additional decision makers

Coordinating negotiations and the conversion of the proposals to contract with the Founder/CEO
-
Working with the Lead Project Manager and Director of Operations to onboard new clients

Oversee the progression and development of the WG services line

Assessing the salience and relevance of WG services and pricing strategy with the Director of Operations and Founder/CEO

Strategic partner management

Ensuring strategic partners are in alignment with WG services and growth values
-
Fostering positive and mutually beneficial relationships with strategic partners

Helping the Founder/CEO determine revenue-share opportunities
-

With the Director of Operations, Lead Project Manager and Founder/CEO, helps in overseeing WG product quality, quality delivery and 100% client satisfaction

Co-manage WG marketing strategies with the Founder/CEO, Creative Director and Director of Operations including:
-
The promotion of WG work with key strategic partners
-
WG’s and the Founder/CEO’s LinkedIn presence
-
WG association participation (UEDA, AURP, SSTI, etc.), including conference management and attendance
-

Develop the WG CRM to track and manage multiple networks simultaneously, including:
-
Client network comprised of 15 former/current entities
-
Prospect network comprised of roughly 80 entities
-
Advisory board network (in formation) comprised of roughly 20 executives
-
Scientific advisory board network (in formation) comprised of roughly 10 targets
-
Funder (DoC/EDA, NSF, DoE, DoD) network comprised of four major funding agencies
-
Strategic partner network comprised of 15 partners

Develop/provide monthly business development status reports to the Founder/CEO
-
Work closely with internal teams to develop and track sales/revenue goals
-
Work with the Founder/CEO and finance lead to report revenue projections/forecast
-
Develops and maintain strong relationships with executives, senior leaders, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives and deliverables
Qualifications
-
Experience in technology-based economic development (TBED)
-
4-year degree in business administration or finance preferred
-
Minimum 5-years of relevant business development and marketing experience
-
Ability to travel 50% of the time
-
Comfort working in a high-growth, constantly changing environment
-
Track record of handling confidential information with the utmost sensitivity

Proven ability to quickly learn new things
-
CRM management and reporting experience (proficiency with Monday.com preferred)
-
Strong technological skills and ability to work with a variety of software systems (especially Google Workspace)

Ability to shift priorities quickly and act proactively
-
Excels at cross-team collaboration
-
Ability to manage conversations with presidents, mayors, chancellors, elected officials, CEOs, heads of research, etc., with ease and confidence

Proven executive-level written and verbal skills

Excellent customer relationship/interpersonal skills

Ability to balance visionary, strategic thinking with attention to detail

A passion for innovation and economic development advancement across the U.S.

Salary & Benefits
-
The CoS role is a full-time employment position. All Waymaker employees start on a 90-day probationary period at the end of which a review will be conducted and the candidate can become eligible for a permanent role.

Salary: $125,000-$150,000 in addition to eligibility for annual bonuses based on performance.

This position is remote but requires travel to cities across the US about 50% of the time. Work hours are flexible. Waymaker provides reimbursement for travel and business expenses.
