LAS VEGAS INNOVATION DISTRICT
Transforming Sin City into a Smart City
As the 26th most populous and the second fastest-growing city in the United States, Las Vegas is primed to grow beyond its hospitality sector and become a national hub for autonomous and electric vehicles, transportation and logistics, and biotechnology.
Challenge
In 2022, The City of Las Vegas engaged Waymaker Group to help establish the market demand for workforce training in advanced manufacturing and start-up services, gauge regional appetite, assess the talent pool, and prepare for funding and innovation district opportunities within Las Vegas.
Ask
Waymaker Group conducted stakeholder interviews and market research and prepared a Smart Manufacturing Accelerators for Regional Transformation (SMART) Program Market Innovation Ecosystem Study. The findings were clear: Las Vegas was well positioned to implement the proposed SMART Program, develop a plan for an innovation district, and take full advantage of historic American Rescue Plan Act Build Back Better Regional Challenge funding.
